Dandelions, 2010, video / stop motion, 3'22", sound
The video artwork Dandelions depicts the fragility and repetition in life. In this work I use the symbolism of a dandelion.
In my culture a dandelion is a wild flower, which is considered as a weed. People are trying to get rid of it in their gardens with poisoning and tools especially made for ravaging this plant. Basically this is the only flower so disliked.
For me, dandelions are about strength. This flower grows from a crack in the asphalt in a street and grows again in our gardens despite all the hard work we try to do to get rid of this flower. Dandelions are beautiful flowers in every period of their existence, but we can’t see that because we cannot control where it grows.
